Bryce's Boys and Witches Brew
Thanks to everybody for asking about blood donation! ARUP is a good place to donate blood (they're next door to my office)--they have a Bloodmobile and a direct relationship with local Utah hospitals. The Red Cross is also excellent. There is a blood drive scheduled in our area this week! (Thanks, Maegan!!) LET'S ALL GO!!!! (It's also 3 days before my birthday, so it would be a nice gift to see pics of everybody's arm bandage!) The details are:
Blood Drive 3-8 pm

A group of old high school friends (John B., Jason “Julio” R., JB C., John W., Brian “Lips” P., Travis A., Eric O., Cory H.) descended upon me last night. Thanks to John B. for organizing it (and for bringing my wife flowers and for my Jamba juice). I haven’t laughed that hard in a long, LONG time! From stories about John W. and his propensity to show his love of the “moon”, to memories of “hat hunting” in the West desert, we covered four years of hilarity, stupidity, and the miracle that we didn’t end up in jail. As usual, Julio led the discussion with Cory providing counterpoint. It was really good to see these guys whom I haven’t seen in years, and whom I still consider some of my best friends.
I know we must have been having a good time, because I stayed downstairs for about two hours. I haven’t made it downstairs for that long in weeks. I really want to make sure that we do this again, not only with these guys, but other friends as well. (Jerd, Dern there are so many people, it’s hard to name you all.) It was very therapeutic to laugh until I almost puked.
One highlight of the night was when Julio brought out a classic tape—one we all loved and have missed, “Coolin’ at the Playground” by Another Bad Creation (aka ABC). Remember those kids that Bel Biv Devoe found and produced? We listened to “Iesha” several times and couldn’t stop laughing. I was also forced to break out a modified version of the “Bryce dance”. Another highlight was Eric’s old camcorder tape of us attempting to go hunting in the West desert. Good times. Thanks everyone for making the effort to come see me. I know some of you don’t live close by anymore, which makes it that much nicer that you were willing to come.
Speaking of good times, I’m now convinced that my wife either loves me more than everybody on this earth, or she’s attempting to kill me. Just two nights ago I was awakened from a sound sleep (something I don’t get that often these days) by a very serious wife. She proceeded to tell me that she had researched the cure to cancer, and it was in this mug in her hand. All I had to do was drink it. BUT there were a few conditions: I couldn’t smell it first, I had to take it all in one shot, and I wasn’t allowed to puke it up. With my nose plugged and my doubts high, I attempted to shoot the whole nasty mess. As soon as it hit the back of my throat, it wanted to come back up. I forced half of it down, but it was all I could do to prevent puking. Tammy wanted me to finish it, but that would have meant losing it all. I’ll never touch that stuff again without documentation that it WILL kill cancer.
This weekend has been full of good times with old friends and family. I can’t believe how lucky I am to have such good people around me. Thank you to everyone, and please keep the prayers coming. We need every one of them. I love you all!
“Shoot the Hawk”
Tammy Says,
In my defense, I really do love Bryce!! The mixture was so good--powdered greens of all kinds, flax oil, multiple vitamins, to name a few ingredients. He told me it tasted like "licking the undercarriage of a horse", but I tasted it first. It tasted like our lawn.
The MRI went well, but we haven't heard the results yet. That will happen today, after Bryce gets a new PICC line and radiation to his chest. Cross your fingers for us!

You both crack me up and continue to amaze me. I am right now trying desperately to get the image of the undercarriage of that horse out of my brain. It's true what they tell you...when you watch horror movies it stays with you!!!! I have to say though Bryce...I'm with ya on this one!! Hold out for the Jamba Juice!
Just want to say I'm thinking about you...many times a day...and praying for you just as often. Keep having some fun times...as many as you possibly can amid all of your pain and sickness. Laughter is definitely great medicine!
One more thing...your "hands" brought tears to my eyes. What a beautiful treasure. Breathtaking is right! And what a great friend to do it for you!
Beautiful...just like your family.
Love you guys, Sally
Bryce:
It was our pleasure to spin the ol' times with you. It is amazing how time has warped by us, yet you still got "the moves". Thanks for the reminder of my lunar history, I'll never be able to run for political office, that is certain.
Lucky for that hawk that we never got a shot off!
Thanks for always being a great friend. Hoping you have a good day.
Tammy - Thanks for tolerating our invasion.

Love, love, love the hands. What a beautiful treasure! And what a truly fun gift your friends gave to you, Bryce.
Tammy, thanks so much for the wonderful conversation Sunday morning. I'm sure you did more to lift my spirits than I yours. I love you to pieces! Aunt Melanie
Bryce, It's been forever! My parents are in your parents ward and think they are awesome. Between that ward and all the friends, I know of many people praying for you and your cute family (and keeping me up dated). You have been keeping so many of us laughing thru out the years, it's great to hear old friends are returning the favor! So many people are thinking of you at this time, I know I am! Stay strong! Sincerely-Julie B.
i just want you guys to know that we love you. Tammy please call me any time I would love to take dani for the day or night whatever you need
The under side of a horse no wonder Tammy didn't let smell it first but then I've never smelt the underside of a horse so how would I know if it smelt bad or not now if you said it was as dirty as the underside of a horse that I could understand but taste that's really questionable but maybe you and your freinds did some really kinky things in your younger days. Keep that laughter coming they say it helps cure all kinds of things.

YAY!! I can donate! So, nursing moms who are at least six week postpartum can donate. Guess I just never took the time to find out, but now we all know. My mother-in-law will even watch the kids. I plan to be there!

Bryce,
We missed you at the Mrs. Fields golf tournament. You may have been able to play pretty well since Karl is no longer around to hit you with golf balls! Get your self better so you can play next year. You're always in my thoughts and prayers (Yes...this does mean I pray from time to time)
Bryce, Tammy and Dani,
Oh the hands are wonderful. What a beautiful idea and treasure. You are surrounded by angels without wings.
I'd like to encourage you to read about laughing and how beneficial it is for us. There is a multitude of info on the web regarding laughing and its' healing benefits, including help for the immune system, humor your tumor, (yes it's there too), how the body talks to itself, 'mind, body and spirit', on a micro level through chemicals and receptors. If you are happy or laughing or thinking good thoughts there is a chemical change in the body that helps the immune system, the heart and I could go on and on. Maybe we all should give you funny movies to watch or tell you about donating blood and passing out, (yes it was funny! Still makes me laugh!). So, I'm donating blood, getting an appointment for cancer screening and making a list of funny movies. I'll drop one by. Are we on to something here?
Love your 3 hands - it's sacred - gives me goose bumps. Love you. -Rhonda
Bryce,
It was great seeing you and all the boys the other night. It felt like we were all hanging out after a stomp again ( Doing the Bryce dance). I have so many great memories of us hanging out and making complete fools of ourselves. I have always considered you a great friend. We need to get together more often so we can create ever more memories. Bryce you have such a lovely wife and family. Thanks Tammy for letting us come and visit.
PS. I know you want to see the Patrick Swayze pants agian.

Just want to say that I'm so sorry to hear this latest news. I was really hoping that the MRI would show that progress was being made against this hideous disease. Please hang in there and don't give up the fight. People have fought and won against greater odds. More prayers are continuing to fly your way. You both are constantly in my thoughts. Stay strong.
Nancy (Stage III) started drinking Noni (pronounced No-Knee) Juice today. It's juice from the fruit from the Tahaitian "Noni" tree. She said that it tastes like a mixture of grapes and vomit. I think that she held her nose to get it down. She said she only has to drink a shot of it a day but it awful.
Frank (husband) decided that in support he would also drink it but then found that it did not agree with his digestive tract and let's just say, things became a bit un-fragrant at their home. Funny part about it is that a neighbor came over to see how Nancy is doing and when he came in he said, "Wow!! What is that smell?" He thought their dog had gotten skunked.
Judy.
P.S. I tried to research this stuff and Googled "Nani (pronounced Nah-Knee)Juice"...oooooppps!! Don't do that. One letter difference takes you far off course. I did not know what "Nani" is a nickname for. Hope no one at work sees that search on my computer and decides to see what I was searching. YIKES!! Really I was interested in a fruit that kills cancer...really I was.
Bryce and Tammy,
Thank you for letting us borrow some of your precious time. We had so much fun talking and mostly laughing about the good old days. What a great group of friends and Bryce you have always been a big part of us. It is wonderful to see what a great person Bryce has become. Thank you for the wristband and for being such great examples to all of us.
We love you guys,
Eric
